How to block people on Hotmail

Block by Email:

Steps 1: Open the Outlook web site. Doing so will open your Inbox if you log on to Outlook.
If you have not already signed in Hotmail, click sign in, enter your email address (or phone number) and your password and click sign in.

Steps 2: Click ⚙. It’s in the upper right corner of the page Outlook. Click Options. You’ll find it at the bottom of the drop-down menu below the device Settings.

Steps 3: Click Blocked senders. It is located under the “Junk email”, which is a subfolder of the folder “Mail”. You will find this option at the bottom left of the page.

Steps 4: Click on the “Enter the sender or domain.” It is located in the middle of the page. This is where you enter the email address of the person you want to block. Enter the email address of the sender. You need to enter the complete address to subscribe to the block list.

Steps 5: Click to save. It’s at the top, just above the heading “sender blocked”. Doing so will save your changes and prevent any future attempts from your blocked senders to contact you.

Creating a Rule:

Steps 1: Open the Outlook web site. Doing so will open your Inbox if you log on to Outlook.

Steps 2: Click ⚙. It’s in the upper right corner of the page Outlook. Click Options. You’ll find it at the bottom of the drop-down menu below the device Settings.

Steps 3: Click Inbox and scanning rules. It’s in the upper left of the Outlook window. You’ll find it under the title “Automatic processing”, which is a subfolder of the tab “Mail”.

Steps 4: Click +. It is located under the heading “Rules Inbox” at the top. Doing so will create a new rule to your custom. The rules in Outlook allows you to program an automatic response to incoming emails; in this case, you will create a rule to automatically delete emails from certain senders.

Steps 5: Enter a name for your rule. You will enter this information into the text field near the top of the page under the heading “Name”.

Steps 6: Click the “Select a” first. Under “When the message arrived, and it fit all of these conditions,” located under the “Name” field.

Steps 7: Hover over It was sent or received. This option is located near the top of the drop down menu. Click Received from. It’s at the top of the pop-out menu.

 Steps 8: Enter your email address. This occurs in the text field below “and it has received from” header at the top. Doing so will add the email address on your list of rules.
If the email address for contacting you before, it will appear in the drop-down menu below the field “and it has received from”.
You can add multiple email addresses on this page.

Steps 9: Click OK. It is in the top left of the page.

Steps 10: Click the “Choose a second”. It is located under the heading “Doing all the things below” near the middle of the page. Select Move, copy or delete. It is at the top of the drop-down menu.

Steps 11: Click Delete messages. This option is at the bottom of the menu that pops up. Link command “Delete” with the email address that you added earlier will move all emails from the recipients listed in the trash.

Steps 12: Click OK. It is in the top left corner of the page. You will not receive email from the selected recipient (s).
